Ex Machina - Market Research Film Trailer

• Institutions - A24, shown very briefly at the start of the trailer and fades out to reveal the start of the trailer going on behind. 'from A24' repeated again half way through the trailer though again very briefly
• USP - Several up and coming actors such as Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson who will both be staring in the new Star Wars film. The director, Alex Garland is also shown and his previous films are stated showing he is another reason why many people would want to watch the film. AI is also a topic which is rapidly becoming in the public's eye and therefore a film about sentient AI, although nothing new, is something which many people want to watch. It is also shown as a character driven film with very little effects and is only on set in one location
• Genre/mood - Sci-fi film which towards the end of the trailer is shown to have several horror elements by the screeching sound effects and the fast paced montage. Elements of a psychological thriller are also shown by several dream-like sequences along with the concept of the mind and deception, which is shown by the viewer not knowing who to listen to. The mood of the film is also shown to very intelligent with the representation of AI along with several undertones of horror, him cutting his wrists and hitting the glass. At the start of the trailer the mood is very happy and you are unsure on what the film is about, however soon you meet the AI are begin to understand
• Target Audience - Seems to be an intelligent film with very hard to grasp concepts. Perhaps also ties into the male gaze and sexuality which is shown throughout the trailer, so therefore perhaps a male audience.
